Sidon Municipality’s Generator Sector Regulation Committee Issues Statement on Electricity Subscription Costs for September 2026
Sidon Municipality – Media Office
The Generator Sector Regulation Committee at the Municipality of Sidon issued a statement outlining the regulations and electricity subscription costs for September 2026, as follows:
Private generator owners are required to comply with the tariff issued by the Ministry of Energy and Water for August, which is LBP 52,840 per kilowatt-hour, provided that the electricity supply from the generator is not less than 12 hours per day. If the supply exceeds 17 hours, the rate becomes LBP 61,000 per kilowatt-hour, based on an average exchange rate of LBP 89,500 per US dollar.
Fixed meter charge: The fixed subscription fee is calculated as follows:
LBP 385,000 for a capacity of 5 amperes.
LBP 685,000 for a capacity of 10 amperes.
An additional LBP 300,000 is added for every additional 5 amperes.
Elevators and common areas (Triphase): For three-phase subscriptions, the fixed charge must be calculated based on the capacity of a single phase (Monophase). For example, if the elevator and common-area subscription has a three-phase breaker of 3×15 amperes, the fixed charge is calculated based on a capacity of 15 amperes, not 45 amperes (i.e. LBP 985,000 instead of LBP 2,785,000).
A detailed invoice is mandatory and must include the name and address of the generator owner and their telephone number, the subscriber’s name, subscription capacity, previous and current meter readings, monthly consumption, kilowatt-hour price, consumption value, fixed subscription fee according to the Ministry’s tariff, and the final total, with no additional charges other than value-added tax where legally applicable.
Service termination notice period: If a generator owner decides to permanently shut down the generator and cease providing the service, they are required to provide a three-month notice by submitting a written notification to the Municipality’s registry office.
Judicial follow-up: Based on the agreement between the Generator Sector Regulation Committee, the South Lebanon Department of Economy, and the South Lebanon Public Prosecution, the Public Prosecution will receive citizens’ complaints through the relevant police stations and take the necessary legal measures against violators. The committee will also officially notify the Public Prosecution of the contents of this statement.
The Municipality and the Ministry remind generator owners and citizens that the following additions may not be imposed on the tariff:
Value-added tax (VAT) unless it is legally justified through official registration with the VAT Directorate at the Ministry of Finance.
Any additional fees or charges under any pretext, such as generator or network maintenance costs.
Additional charges imposed on citizens who own solar energy systems.
