Sidon Municipality Emergency Teams Close Open Sewage Drains and Replace Stolen Covers to Ensure Public Safety

The emergency teams and technical crews of the Municipality of Sidon carried out an immediate field campaign to close and install new covers on a number of stormwater and sewage drainage openings and grates across the city’s streets and neighborhoods, after the old metal covers were stolen by unknown individuals.
These swift measures are part of efforts to protect public safety and reduce risks that could threaten the movement of pedestrians and vehicles, as well as to prevent the accumulation of waste and sediment inside the drainage network with the approach of the winter season.
The Municipality of Sidon condemns these acts and violations targeting public property and facilities and putting residents’ lives at risk of flooding and accidents. It confirms that it is following up on the matter with the security forces to apprehend those responsible, and also urges residents and citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity or theft affecting the public network, in the interest of the public good and the safety of the city.
