Following Museum Night: Saida Municipality President Engineer Mustafa Hijazi tours the city’s historic museums, highlighting its rich cultural and historical heritage

As part of the national cultural event organized by the Lebanese Ministry of Culture, Saida Municipality President Engineer Mustafa Hijazi, Vice President Dr. Ahmad Akra, along with Municipal Council members Hisham Jradi, Rami Bashasha, Wael Qasab, Hisham Hashisho, and the President’s Advisor Wafaa Shuaib, took part in Museum Night activities and toured the city’s archaeological and heritage museums, which opened their doors to visitors and citizens free of charge at night.
The tour included several prominent museums and historical landmarks in Old Saida, including the Soap Museum operated by the Aoude Cultural Foundation, Debbaneh Palace, Khan Sassi, Hammam Al Jadid, Khan El Franj, and the Aisha Umm Al Moumineen Center, formerly known as Dar Hammoud, operated by the Islamic Makassed Association, in addition to other historical landmarks that reflect centuries of the city’s rich heritage along the Mediterranean coast. The event attracted a large number of residents of Saida and visitors from different parts of Lebanon.
During the tour, Saida Municipality President Engineer Mustafa Hijazi highlighted the city’s exceptional cultural and tourism significance, stating that Saida’s participation in Museum Night is a renewed reflection of its role as a vibrant cultural center. He noted that Saida is not simply a city that has passed through history, but a birthplace of successive civilizations whose deep marks can be seen throughout its many archaeological sites and landmarks.
He also emphasized that the unique heritage represented in the city’s museums, castles, and traditional markets reflects its identity and authentic roots. He added that Saida Municipality remains committed to supporting cultural initiatives in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and local and international partners, with the aim of preserving and developing this heritage and strengthening sustainable development as well as tourism and economic activity in the capital of South Lebanon.
At the conclusion of the tour, the President and members of the Municipal Council praised the administrative and organizational efforts made by the Ministry of Culture and the institutions responsible for the museums, which contributed to the success of the event and provided visitors with a distinctive cultural experience reflecting Saida’s historic and cultural identity.
